The qin notation in this book indicates finger positioning and stroke technique through symbols and abbreviated Chinese characters. Combined Qin Tablatures 琴譜合璧, an extremely rare Ming dynasty anthology with 19 extant copies, is a rich source of information about the philosophy of music.
